Who we are

Design Your Future (“DYF,” “we”) provides a counselor-guided platform that organizations use to run journeys with the people they serve. This policy describes how we handle personal information in that service.

Who uses DYF

DYF is used by people at many stages of life — including high-school and college students and working adults — across a range of journeys, both in and beyond education. We refer to the people an organization enrolls as “participants.”

How participants join

DYF is provided to participants through an organization. The organization enrolls a participant by sending an invitation; participants do not sign up on their own, and we do not create accounts for parents or guardians. Because the organization enrolls its participants, requests to access, correct, or delete a participant's information are handled through that organization, which we support as needed.

Participants under 18

Some participants are minors. The service is intended for people aged 14 and older; it is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. Enrollment is always initiated by the participant's organization.

Information we collect

We collect the account information needed to sign a user in (name and email, managed through our authentication provider) and the content created during a journey. That journey content can be sensitive: it includes free-text reflections a participant writes about themselves, notes and materials a counselor prepares, and meeting transcripts a counselor uploads. We treat this information as confidential.

How we use information

We use this information to provide the service and to improve it — for example, to make the guidance and the journeys work better. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary to keep a signed-in user authenticated. We do not use advertising cookies.

How long we keep information

We retain journey information for as long as the enrolling organization maintains its account with us, and we delete or return it on the organization's instruction; we do not automatically delete records on a fixed schedule. After an organization leaves, we may keep content in an anonymized form — no longer identifying any participant — to continue improving the service.
